The Day When Days Turned to Year

Exactly 365 days (27th July) before I Got a call from an Unknown Number When I attended the call, the person on the other side said “Shut up and Come to Gowdavelly”, That’s it the call ended there. During Our recess I again got a call from the same number saying to come down near the main gate of the college. When I went there I saw Eshwar (THE BEST VOLUNTEER OF SAHAYA), he took me to Gowdavelly School and there began my Journey in SAHAYA.

I went there took a session for almost 2hours for the 6th E/M, There was a girl named “MUSKAAN” who taught me to how to smile at any instance, however grave the situation is. The Session ended and when I came back I found myself fighting to get out of the atmosphere that was created around me by the children of 6th E/M (Presently 7th E/M).

THEIR LOVE & RESPECT HAD NO BOUNDS

In the past one year there were many things that I forgot, one of them was at the DRAWING Competition held in GOWDAVELLY School on 4th August 2012, There was a girl who made the drawing using the JANMA BHOOMI theme to describe the national Integrity.

At that time I couldn’t remember that and after the session I couldn’t forget that.

And later on there were many things that were a part of my life and the rest changed my life. The Volunteers of SAHAYA were neither my relatives nor my Childhood friends but still they are my life.

And then came the day “MAITHRI (The Anniversary of Sahaya)” Where I was awarded for the BEST BLOG POST. I still remember every minute of that day I had spent along with my fellow mates & The TEAM behind SAHAYA.

If I start writing all my experiences, then it would be better I write a book. Writing a book will happen for sure, but at present I want to keep it short and simple. As stated in all my previous articles I urge all my mates & others to be a part of SAHAYA and experience the best and finest. And Script their Journey and share their memories. Because,

To Volunteer you don’t need a graduate degree, all you need is a degree of caring.

Come, Join us & be a part of the change.

Let’s meet in SWECHA & go with PRAGATHI of Children.

Thank you

Introducing Swecha - Celebrating freedom

Thanksgiving

In general, our lives are built by the people; there will be lot of influence on us because of that people. So far, one person has stood out the most in this role, my friend Dharani Kumar who is a very strong willed, intelligent and inspiring person to me.

Dharani always believe that “a single person taking on multiple tasks will not be able to perform at a same pace as a team can. When people work together they can complete tasks faster by dividing the work to people of different abilities and knowledge”

Being Treasurer to a non profitable organization is most challenging job in terms of better utilization of available resources depending upon the requirement list. He took the responsibility to ensure our organization have resources to carry out the stated aims and objectives, neither they overspend nor under spend. It’s great to know that he is having accurate records and supporting documentation to a reasonable level of detail that provides a clear idea for all transactions.

Sahaya is known for its innovative events during patriotic occasions, but there is a tremendous amount of work has been carried out interms of budgetary planning. However, Dharani’s long term diligence and efforts most importantly his presence during sessions has provided an opportunity to experience the elevated level of energizing volunteers and feeds the cycle of success.

Indeed it is a great feeling for me to think that we have been worked together for so long but the moments have never reached to its extremity. With his new Avatar from Chennai, I feel new Sun of hope will rise shortly. Finally I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dharani for the support we’ve received here and we wish him to reach many milestones in all his future endeavors.

Dharani, You are so incredible!

Best Wishes

On future design..

We have been brainstorming on a lot more ways to improve the quality of activities in Sahaya. One of the key things we have identified is the need to educate the children about life skills. Children have to be ready for everyday events. By skills, I mean competencies that are useful in everyday life.

There is that kind of knowledge that can not be learnt by itself. For some notions, concepts, ideas or process, one can’t just know them without having a external input. Not everybody is a genius. This is why for communications skills improvement, computers usage, career guidance, general awareness, moral values, science and many more topics children need to be introduced by teaching.

We decided to challenge ourselves to see how this can be addressed. We are working on various innovative activities that tries to address this.

More precisely, there are many types of life skills, that we can sort in several categories. Thinking skills (self-awareness, smartness, problem-solving ability…),  Social skills (verbal communication, reading, writing…), General knowledge (history, art, current affairs, philosophy, moral…). Each of them can be taught by us.

Why should we teach this? Again, get children ready. Because life isn't easy for anyone. Also, by having such skills in their backpack, they are more likely to become wise adults, responsible and society-adapted. The best advantage we see in acquiring them is the enlargement of their opportunities, whatever they dream of.

Here’s hoping that more of the quality and innovative ideas come in to action and are successful, so that our Mission can bring in more value to children.
